Repairing burns and scorch marks in carpet in Wellington
A burn is damage in one small place. Cutting it out and patching it costs far less than new carpet for the room.

Carpet burns we repair
- Cigarette and candle burns
- Iron and hair-straightener marks
- Ember and scorch marks in front of fireplaces
- Heater and lamp burns
How a carpet burn repair is done
For small burns, the damaged tufts are cut out and new tufts, or small plugs of carpet, are set in their place. For larger burns, the damaged section is cut out and a matching shape is patched in, with its pile running the same way as the carpet around it.
The replacement carpet has to come from you: a spare off-cut from the original install, or a small piece from inside a wardrobe or cupboard, which we fill with a plain off-cut. It's the only way that works.
Carpet around fireplaces and hearths
When a fireplace or hearth is removed, the gap in the carpet can be filled. When a new hearth goes in, the carpet around it can be cut and finished neatly. See also patching.

How our carpet repair process works
-
Tell us about the problem
Fill in the form, or email or text us. If you can, send us a phone photo with a coin or your hand in it for scale. We give you a considered estimate, and if you're happy with it, you book a time for us to come to you.
-
We find a piece of your carpet
The patch has to be your own carpet. If you kept an off-cut when it was laid, we use that. If not, we take a small piece from inside a wardrobe or cupboard and fill that gap with a plain off-cut of ours.
-
We patch the damage
We cut out the damaged area and no more, fit your piece with the pile running the same way, and secure the join underneath.
Weighing it up?
Email or text us a photo of the damage, or request an estimate, and we'll tell you whether it's worth repairing.
Carpet burn repair questions
Can a small burn be repaired?
Yes. Small burns are often the most successful repairs, simply because they are small. The burnt tufts are cut out and tiny plugs of carpet from a spare piece are set in their place.
Will I be able to see the repair?
Usually a little, if you look for it. The new carpet comes from a spare piece or from inside a wardrobe, and carpet in the open fades and wears, so the match is rarely exact. A burn repair is a real improvement on the burn, not an invisible fix.
Can you fix the carpet in front of a fireplace?
Yes. Scorch marks and ember burns in front of fires are common. We also fill the gap left when a hearth or fireplace is removed, and finish carpet neatly around a newly installed hearth.

Boyce is an absolute wizard, I really thought there was no way the damage in the carpet wouldn't lead to having to replace it entirely, but he worked magic with a small off cut and you can't even tell there was an issue in the first place. He's also really friendly and professional, I highly recommend him.

Repairing a carpet costs a fraction of a new carpet.
Re-carpeting a room means uplift, underlay, disposal and a new carpet that may not match the next room. A repair deals with the damaged area and no more.
We'll be honest about the result. Carpet that has been out in the room for years has faded and worn, so a patch rarely matches it perfectly. A good repair is a real improvement, far less noticeable than the damage, rather than a perfect match.
If a repair isn't the right call for your carpet, we'll tell you.
